TLA RELEASING INVITES YOU TO JOIN US FOR A COFFEE DATE Sexual misunderstandings and comic romance is coming to DVD on September 25 (Philadelphia PA, July 24, 2007) TLA Releasing has acquired all North American non-theatrical entertainment distribution rights to COFFEE DATE (US, 2006) written and directed by Stewart Wade. The film will be released on DVD through the TLA Releasing label on September 25, 2007. TLA Releasing acquired the film from Celebration Pictures, a whollyowned subsidiary of Film and Music Entertainment, Inc, represented by Blayze Collins, with COFFEE DATE represented by Los Angeles-based Pierce Law Group, LLP who negotiated the deal. TLA was represented by Partner and Director of Acquisitions Richard A. Wolff and Pierce Law Group, LLP was represented by attorney David Albert Pierce and Producer’s Representative, Paul Hazen. “COFFEE DATE is a light, refreshing comedy that plays with themes of sexual identity.” Said Wolff of TLA Releasing. “Stewart Wade is a talented director, whose films have become immensely popular after film festival and, in the case of COFFEE DATE, theatrical exposure.” COFFEE DATE tells the comic story of all-around “straight” guy, Todd (Jonathan Bray) who ends up on a blind date with Kelly, (Wilson Cruz of Logo’s “Noah’s Arc”) a gay man; a result of a practical joke played by Todd’s brother, Barry (Jonathan Silverman of CBS’ “Close to Home”). But Todd and Kelly decide to take revenge on Barry by pretending to be boyfriends and the plan works too well. Barry quickly calls their mother, Mrs. Muller (Sally Kirkland) telling her that Todd is gay. And after a hilariously disastrous date with a sexy, younger woman, Todd begins to wonder if his feelings for Kelly could be more than he suspected. The cast also include comedian/actor Jason Stuart, actress Elaine Hendrix (“Joan of Arcadia”) and singer/actress Deborah Gibson. “I am very pleased and excited that TLA Releasing is handling the DVD release of Coffee Date.” Said writer/director Stewart Wade. “As I prepare to shoot my next feature (Tru Loved, a story centering around the founding of a high school's first Gay-Straight Alliance), it's great to know that my earlier work is in good hands. Named as one of 2006 Outfest 2006 “Five in Focus,” Stewart Wade has had to stage plays produced (“Opening Night” and “Second Chance”), and multiple screenplays optioned (On The Line and Wish List). Coffee Date, the short film, screened at over 35 festivals worldwide, winning several major awards, including Best Short Film at the Honolulu International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and the Madrid Lesbian & Gay Film Festival. Wade’s most recent short, Stag Party and his new film Tru Loved is currently filming. For additional information about COFFEE DATE visit coffeedatemovie.com and tlareleasing.com # # # |
